Formula

The calculator uses this formula:

Total Days in the U.S. = (Current Date – Date of Arrival) – Days Absent

How it works:

  1. It calculates the number of days between the current date and your date of arrival.
  2. It sums up the days you were absent from the U.S.
  3. It subtracts the days absent from the total, giving you the days physically stayed in the U.S.

Example

  • Arrival Date: January 1, 2023
  • Current Date: January 1, 2025
  • Days Absent: 30 (Trip 1), 15 (Trip 2)

Calculation: (2025-01-01 – 2023-01-01) = 730 days
730 – (30 + 15) = 685 days

This means you’ve stayed in the U.S. for 685 days.
