Knowing how many days you’ve physically stayed in the U.S. is crucial for legal and tax purposes. It helps with immigration forms, green card renewals, naturalization eligibility, tax residency status, and just to get an initial bank account. So here it is – the most convenient tool to calculate the days of your stay in the United States. Works for other countries, too!
Calculator of Days Stayed in the US
How to Use the Calculator
- Enter the date you moved to the U.S. in the provided field.
- The current date is automatically set but can be adjusted if needed.
- Enter any days you were absent from the U.S. (e.g., trips abroad) in the available fields. Each trip can be added separately and the tool sums them for you automatically. If no trips, leave the fields blank or put 0 there.
- Click Calculate to see your total days stayed in the U.S.
Formula
The calculator uses this formula:
Total Days in the U.S. = (Current Date – Date of Arrival) – Days Absent
How it works:
- It calculates the number of days between the current date and your date of arrival.
- It sums up the days you were absent from the U.S.
- It subtracts the days absent from the total, giving you the days physically stayed in the U.S.
Example
- Arrival Date: January 1, 2023
- Current Date: January 1, 2025
- Days Absent: 30 (Trip 1), 15 (Trip 2)
Calculation: (2025-01-01 – 2023-01-01) = 730 days
730 – (30 + 15) = 685 days
This means you’ve stayed in the U.S. for 685 days.
